Why are we creating new audience instead of having a custom Audience ?

I am wondering the same thing. I see a lot of comments referring to creating a lookalike audience from the buyer data and targeting engaged shoppers in Facebook but I didn’t see any of that in week 1 of the course so I’m wondering if I am supposed to read between the lines or if that step and targeting has been taken out on purpose or if that comes in later in the training? Any help from those that know is greatly appreciated.
