Greetings, I am Carrie, native of Houston, TX grew up in a family of four, mom, dad, myself and older brother by 2.5 years. We owned the mom and pop store in our community, and intermittently I have been involved in some kind of sales including specialty advertising and wholesales.
My parents were very matured before having children, thus we were reared within a no-nonsense environment. Unlike many today, our communities were very stable as we had the same neighbors from kinder to high school graduation. My mom was a licensed beautician and I don’t think she ever forgave my dad for insisting after children to become a housewife.
My dad was once a bank messenger in downtown Houston and I have photos of him making those runs. He also retired from Southern Pacific Railroad where he worked as a dining car waiter. That allowed us as children to vacation in places like CA, and to frequently take trips or Sunday afternoon train rides. We always had access to dine in the dining car and my brother never declined not one meal.
Our homestead which was built in 1927 is nearing the 100 mark, and for sure by now you are likely wondering my age. ???
I have a very rich work history that is inclusive of the earlier mentioned in addition to social services, shop owner. and etc. I
I most likely have at least a couple of businesses that might be lingering somewhere on the net, but also did affiliate marketing in the much earlier days of the internet.
I have been married and divorced once and that is sufficient. My daughter from that union deceased in 2006 at the age of 36. That is when my world changed significantly. I was doing specialty item sales when my daughter passed and subsequently did not feel like doing anything. I had started substituting and had taken a long term assignment with a second grade class. It was to my benefit, because they were so active I had little time to even think. Currently, I have been exploring many avenues as in copywriting, sales and etc. I do have several interests that I plan to make use of and when I master the details I will have something that I can sit down on as well as hopefully help others.
I think of education as life’s challenges, mistakes, and successes. I am somewhat philosophical, enjoy reading and speaking with others on how we can improve our existence on this planet.
I have 1 brother, 2 adult grandchildren, 2 nieces, 3 great nieces, and 2 nephews. With the advent of Covid-19, a huge paradigm shift has transpired. Practically put restaurants out of business and gave birth to food trucks everywhere. I don’t know what it is like in your city, but Houston is a food truck town now. Well, earlier I mentioned we had a store growing up, right in front of our house. If you would like to see the house I grew up in check out my nephew Chef Marcus’ business there in that same location www.marcospeppergrill.com.
For me, it is extremely important that I succeed. I am going to give it the necessary time required to master the training and apply appropriately.
I hope that I have not written too much and will upload a picture asap.
I have a few domain names, i.e. www.thesubstitutespeaks.com/.us. I have had this one for several years with the intent of podcasting or blogging. Preferably, podcasting in this fast paced world. I would appreciate your feedback on the use of that name with this endeavor. I have some ideas but please let me know what you think.
I will be making full use of all of the resources on this site.
Cheers and Peace out!
